WordPress Plugin puts Author Picture in Google

by Luke Johnson on August 20, 2012

You may have noticed several changes in search. One of my favorite changes is author’s pictures in Google. I’m really bad with names but faces I never forget. I was shocked when I found out not everyone shares my new love author pictures.

I have talked to a couple of people who think it does not add value to search results. I told them “it makes your content stand out.” When I search and see a bunch of plain text results I don’t feel connected to the content. When I see someone’s face in the results I’m going to notice it.

WP Biographia is a good WordPress plug in to add your author picture. I recommend using Google rich snippet tool to test if it is working right.

Issues may need to be fixed depending on the the WordPress theme. Do a Google search with the errors and you should find solutions for most issues. There are several things like hcard, date updated and other which take a little bit more info but is not impossible to fix.

To see it in action just Google the title of this article “Wordpress Plugin puts Author Picture in Google” and say hi to my face.

If you like my profile picture comment and I’ll tell you how I did it.
