Writing great content is not easy

by Luke Johnson on July 6, 2012

In one of my recent articles I talk about making a boring topic interesting. I want to add to that post some simple ideas you can do to find good content.

Google Alerts

I set up a Google alerts for every major brand in my niche. It can be tricky to make sure you are getting the best results. One brand I was getting alerts for was filled with article about the latest sponsored event. I added “-‘name of the location’” to remove all results that had the location of the event. That way, I would still get stuff about the brand but not about the brands’ sponsored event.

Social Media

Most companies have Twitter, Facebook and Google Plus pages so I follow them. The content is usually pretty good and helps me see what other companies are using to help their businesses.

Once I find a great idea, I write a competitive title. Writing the title is one of the most important things I do. If the title has all the great stuff in the article, people are going to read it.

Finding good article ideas is hard. Using social media and Google alerts helped me find interesting stuff to write.

Tell us how you find article ideas by leaving a comment.
